Samuel Ting Science Cafe

About this project

Professor Samuel Ting, a renowned physicist, presented on his ground-breaking discoveries and how they are helping us learn about the makeup of our Cosmos. To encourage participation for this event, our team designed a website to submit potential questions to ask Professor Ting. Our goal with this event was to allow the community, specifically the Lexington Asian American community, to be able to directly communicate with Professor Ting.

The recording of the talk can be found here.

About Professor Samuel Ting

Professor Ting is a world-renowned particle physicist and MIT Professor of Physics. He was awarded the Nobel Prize in Physics in 1976, which he shared with Burton Richter, for the discovery of the J/ψ meson particle.

Professor Ting currently leads the Alpha Magnetic Spectrometer (AMS) experiment on the International Space Station, searching for the origins of antimatter, dark matter and cosmic rays.

Future Goals

We are currently aiming to generate both English and Chinese subtitles for this one-hour long talk, which involves a process of writing a program that will hopefully be able to transcibe the audio file of the talk.
